This outfit is very much inspired by the basics I see the Olsens wearing so often. Admittedly, I was only interested in trying on the shoes because they're so strikingly similar to these tan alligator slingbacks I've seen Ashley Olsen wear several times on one of my favorite sources of inspiration, Olsens Anonymous.
breton striped shirt: Gap thrifted
black skinnies: H&M
croc print pumps: Rampage thrifted
armor ring: Aldo
bunny ring: made by my talented friend Annaleise
In an effort to stay true to myself, I decided to post this outfit knowing that it's not that interesting or complex. I had only a split second to stop home after work to grab my wallet and change my shoes before heading over to happy hour at VIA for cocktails with a friend. If I'm honest with myself, the majority of the time I end up wearing basic things, basic colors, then styling them with dramatic jewelry or shoes.
(..or just dramatic egg over-easy Hello Kitty nails:)
One last thing:
HERE I am featured on Stuff Boston's website in an outfit that pretty much embodies what I just described above.
Crappy photobooth picture, followed by another crappy picture from my iPhone.
Not pictured: crappy peanut butter and jelly with cheezits for dinner.
The moral of this whole story?
LIVE LARGE.
(The necklace was an amazing find at Salvation Army for $2, the ring was a gift from Haberdash Vintage, and the whole lot was paired with a simple silk spaghetti strapped tank top also from Salvation Army, a pair of cuffed grey jeans and Steven by Steve Madden leopard loafers.)
..just some inspirational photos i found around the web. I love black and white together and have recently been on the hunt for sheer pieces as well as bralettes in black or white to show underneath. Also seriously regretting getting rid of all my old Sally Hansen Chrome nail polish. Who knew years later it'd appeal to me again?
A few weeks back, I excitedly attended an event by The Swapaholics. The aptly named "Snob Swap" required attendees to bring only two items, but the catch is that they had to be either designer or vintage. I chose a black Michael Kors tunic style top and a vintage Italian silk blouse.

I was lucky enough to walk away with a vintage beaded cropped tank, a pair of metallic Chloe sandals, and a few new friends. All in all the night was both successful and fun.
Last Thursday night, my friend Christina and I braved the torrential downpours and "bumper-to-bumper" city traffic to attend Boston Fashion Week's Sip & Swap at the Microsoft NERD Center in Cambridge.
I have to say, it was the least successful swap I've attended so far, but also the most fun! In other words, it did not disappoint despite my significantly smaller bag of loot.

My 2 best best best scores were shoes. Truth be told, I totally blame myself for straying from my fail-proof game plan. I caught one look at the shoes all arranged so prettily (word?) and I chucked the plan out the window. Next time, it's back to the plan. However, I did get the ONE PAIR of shoes I had my heart set on, and they fit so perfectly! They're perfect! I can't believe they're mine!
Skip ahead to 1:09. Putting them on when I got home was like that. Just like that.
In other news, I had an excellent conversation while trying to get a little reading in on an otherwise peaceful bus ride to work:
