With its beading, cutout details and scalloped hem, this piece is way too over the top to be paired with anything other than lightwash denim cutoffs. Kind of an understated Vegas showgirl. Or maybe I like the fact that I look like I've been tramping around in the grass and sunshine all day and am half-dressed to begin my night out at the opera or something. I almost didn't get it because I felt my hair might be just too much to even attempt to make it work, but then I realized it's too much of a gem to even care.

Hope everyone had a fun St Patty's Day!

Although I was sick with the flu last weekend, the parade on Sunday was too loud outside my window to allow me any sleep, so I grabbed my camera, wrapped myself in a blanket (to conceal my pajamas, for real) and headed out under the sun. Like most things experienced in childhood as wonderful and exciting, 

I realize now that parades are pret-ty pret-ty pret-ty pret-ty boring. 

Nonetheless, parades and celebrations still do tend to bring out some pretty interesting people.

However, since I'm sick with a terrible stomach bug, I'll have to settle for opening all the windows, wearing chunky socks and an old high school hoodie, 

indulging in Saltines and ginger ale, 

and a HEROES marathon (I'm embarrassed that I'm hooked)

.

Still though, oh my goodness I'm so happy with this weather.

This outfit is very much inspired by the basics I see the Olsens wearing so often. Admittedly, I was only interested in trying on the shoes because they're so strikingly similar to these tan alligator slingbacks I've seen Ashley Olsen wear several times on one of my favorite sources of inspiration, Olsens Anonymous.

In an effort to stay true to myself, I decided to post this outfit knowing that it's not that interesting or complex. I had only a split second to stop home after work to grab my wallet and change my shoes before heading over to happy hour at VIA for cocktails with a friend. If I'm honest with myself, the majority of the time I end up wearing basic things, basic colors, then styling them with dramatic jewelry or shoes. 


(..or just dramatic egg over-easy Hello Kitty nails:)
